The opportunity:

The Technical Operations Manager plays a critical role in delivering a seamless, dependable technology experience across JA World. This position ensures that all technology and audio/visual systems operate reliably to support daily staff operations, student programming, and special events. Serving as the primary point of coordination with external IT, AV, phone, and printing vendors, the Technical Operations Manager keeps systems running efficiently while continuously improving the user experience.

 

The role also provides hands-on support for staff and student-facing technology, manages equipment inventory and lifecycle planning, and safeguards the operational readiness of all learning and event environments—helping Junior Achievement of South Florida inspire and prepare young people for success. You will also partner closely with the COO on technology projects, operational planning, and process improvements that strengthen JA’s efficiency, user experience, and service delivery.

 


 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Audio/Visual
    • Oversee the audio and visual needs at JA World – both permanent systems and temporary set-ups on as-needed basis.
    • Ensure AV systems remain updated, documented, and proactively maintained.
    • Set up audio visual systems for smaller organizational events and coordinate with external AV vendor when needed for larger events.
    • Manage digital signage system including uploading content, scheduling, and system performance.
    • Coordinate AV support for facility rentals, special programs, and partner events as needed. 

 

  • IT Services
    • Manage external IT Service Provider to ensure all IT systems and services are fully functional.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT escalations and coordinate solutions with the external IT service provider.
    • Co-manage seasonal projects with IT Service Provider (i.e. Procurement of new equipment).
    • Ensure device lifecycle management and replacement planning.
    • Support end users with basic workstation technology: computers, monitor, surge protection, etc.
    • Manage employee soft phone system with support from external phone service providers.
    • Maintain system access controls and oversee onboarding/offboarding account setup.
    • Oversee end user cyber-security training program.

 

  • General
    • Troubleshoot technology needs in student experiential learning areas and applications.
    • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are updated and followed and maintain documentation of technology and operational workflows.
    • Maintain accurate inventory of computers, tablets, networking equipment, AV systems, and related peripherals.
    • Assists in the research, recommendation and approval of technology procurement to ensure accuracy and competitive pricing.
    • Monitor vendor contracts for service quality and renewal schedules.
    • Document technology processes and continuously improve workflows.
    • Oversee relationship with external printer service provider.
    • Supports back-office and organization-wide training programs, reinforcing technology and operations infrastructure between departments to ensure consistency and quality standards are met.
    • Assist with budgeting and financial management for AV and IT services and projects.
    • Oversee onboarding/offboarding technical processes.
    • Onboard and support staff with their use of the AV and IT equipment. 

 

  • Work closely with COO on other special planning and departmental projects.
  • Stay up to date on industry regulations, trends, and technology.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • This role does not supervise internal staff but provides functional oversight of external IT, AV, phone, and printing service providers and ensures vendors meet service-level expectations.

 

⭐ The skills and experience that will encourage success in your application include:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Systems Administration, AV Technology or related field preferred, but not required. Equivalent professional experience may substitute for formal education
  • 3+ years of experience in audio/visual execution, preferably in corporate or event‑based environments. Experience should include AV system setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and proactive maintenance (e.g., projectors, speakers, microphones, digital signage). As well as IT hardware and workstation support, including computers, monitors, peripherals, and basic networking components.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, coordinating, and executing technology and AV initiatives from concept through completion, while managing timelines, vendors, budgets, and cross‑department communication.
  • Experience collaborating with managed service providers (MSPs) strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Technical troubleshooting skills with audio/visual equipment and systems.
  • Ability to train staff with varying levels of technical comfort.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively amid shifting operational demands.
  • A hands-on problem solver who can determine resourceful solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to translate tech concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle diverse projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and effectively manage workflow to meet deadlines.
  • Highly flexible and responsive with the ability to shift priorities quickly and as organizational demands require.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations related to the job scope (proper wiring management, electrical load, etc.).
  • Trustworthy, discreet, and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, and occasionally required to reach, bend, lift, or climb.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times for AV setups (e.g., speakers, monitors.
