Position Summary

Junior Achievement of South Florida (JA) is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Grants Compliance and Audit Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of grants management, ensure adherence to complex funding requirements, and maintain operational excellence through internal audits and reporting.

 

This cross-functional role supports JA’s mission of empowering youth with the knowledge, ability, and confidence to navigate their futures, drive the economy, and lead the community.

Reporting to the Senior Grants & Public Relations Manager and working in close collaboration with the Chief Revenue Officer, the Finance team, and Program staff, this position is essential to sustaining the integrity, transparency, and impact of our funded programs.

 


Key Responsibilities

 

Grants Management

  • Research, identify, and recommend funding opportunities aligned with JA’s mission from government, foundation, and corporate sources.
  • Assist with preparing compelling and compliant grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and required attachments.
  • Track deadlines, submissions, renewals, and outcomes across active grants.
  • Coordinate with the Finance and Program teams to ensure proper execution of funded activities and alignment with proposal commitments.

 

Compliance & Monitoring

  • Ensure full compliance with all grant regulations, contractual obligations, and applicable federal, state, and local funding rules.
  • Maintain thorough and audit-ready records, including agreements, deliverables, correspondence, and budget documentation.
  • Provide ongoing compliance training and support to staff across departments.
  • Serve as a liaison with funders, auditors, and internal teams to communicate compliance status and resolve issues.

 

Reimbursement & Financial Documentation

  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely reimbursement requests, including collection and validation of invoices, receipts, and payroll documentation.
  • Track and reconcile reimbursements and address any discrepancies with funders.
  • Partner with the Finance Director to ensure spending aligns with budgeted amounts and grant requirements.

 

Internal Audits & Risk Mitigation

  • Conduct periodic internal audits of grant programs, financial procedures, and documentation.
  • Identify potential risks, gaps in compliance, and inefficiencies; recommend process improvements.
  • Support external audits and funder monitoring visits through accurate and timely documentation.

 

Reporting & Analysis

  • Develop comprehensive financial and programmatic reports to funders and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze grant and audit data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for growth.
  • Present regular updates to leadership on grant status, compliance issues, and audit findings.

 


 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in grants management, compliance, or internal auditing, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with government or foundation funding, including reimbursements and reporting.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of grant writing, compliance regulations, reimbursement protocols, and internal auditing procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; able to handle multiple deadlines with accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to convey data clearly and persuasively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grants/compliance software.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work across departments and with external partners.
